Dirty Mother Nation came together in the fall of 2003 and quickly began developing a name for themselves on the local rock scene. Originally the brainchild of brothers Matt and Dan Douglas, the band's sound was filled out by guitarist Paul Lucenti and vocalist Lonny Friedland in the fall of 2003.
After a short incubation period, the band began taking their high-energy, melodic songs to the stage. Practically overnight, the band established a solid fan-base of devotees. It isn't uncommon to hear the crowd singing along to all of the songs at a Dirty Mother Nation show. ...
Since the fateful night seven years ago when Cregan and Danielle met in a Boston bar, the duo has lived up and down the east coast and performed throughout the country at festivals like Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, SXSW in Austin, NXNE in Toronto and International Folk Alliance in Memphis. Maine was the birthplace and home of divineMAGgees (pronounced "Maggies") until 2004, when the duo sought to expand their touring base by moving south. After a year in Athens, GA, they settled in Asheville, NC, in the heart of the southern appalachians.
